Sheilah Swanson - Lab Manager - Labs 501, 502 & 503 

Hellstern Middle School is proud to be 'high-tech heroes'!

We have 4 computer labs and 2 wireless mobile labs. 

Three of our labs are for classroom rotations.  One lab is strictly 7th grade keyboarding. 

 The 503 mini lab rotates 6th grade classes. The 501 lab is a keyboarding lab this year, and the 502 lab rotates 7th grade classes.  

6th and 7th grade classes may sign up to work in Learning Expedition, research, STAR testing, online subject testing, typing reports and various other activities that require the use of a lab. 

Each lab is equipped with 31 computers, mounted LCD projectors, and one network printer.  The 503 mini lab is equipped with 26 Gateway desktop computers along with 3 Dell wireless laptops. 

In addition to our 4 labs, we also acquired, through a grant, 2 portable laptop labs on carts.  Each cart holds 30 HP Mininote wireless laptops. 

All computer are to be used for educational purposes. 

Students are to only search teacher/district approved websites.  Installed and web-based programs are used to enhance learning and for testing purposes, including Star Reading and Math and Gates-MacGinite.

Students may not use computers to "Surf the Net", play unapproved game sites, go to chat rooms or post messages of any kind on any website. 

Streaming audio/video by students is strictly prohibited by district policy.

Our network is protected with filters through the state and district.
